Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She is the youngest woman and also the first woman to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She is a student and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing between London to New Delhi. As a teenager the first time she performed in New Delhi took place. In Encinitas California in 1999, she was awarded an honorary high school diploma. The career of Anouskha as a musician and performer is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. Her father has accompanied her to numerous performances over many years. In 1998, she released her debut self-titled album Anourag. The following year, she released the Grammy nominated Live in Carnegie Hall. Alongside performing at many of the biggest venues, she also has an extensive stage presence. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not just limited to music. Bapi The love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. Her role was a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will only continue to grow and grow. We can look forward to seeing many interesting things coming from her. Anoushka is a native of England however, she spent the majority of her youth between London as well as Delhi. She then moved to California and attended high school there. In Delhi on his birthday, which was celebrated at the age of 75, Anoushka made her debut playing the sitar before the crowd of four years following her nine-year-old father. Alongside her father, they toured around the globe, Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of experience performing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as making recordings together with George Harrison. She was the only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament in recognition of her artistry and musicianship as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
